The Copper Sign by Katia Fox

I have read the trilogy of Das Kupferne Zeichen (The Copper Sign), Der Silberne Falke (The Silver Falcon), and Der Goldene Thron (The Golden Throne), in German, written by Katia Fox.

I am quite delighted to know The Copper Sign will soon be available in English as well.

Earlier this year, I also got to meet the author at a book reading in Bad Homburg.

Her first book is now available on pre-order at Amazon.com:

The Copper Sign

Release date: 06 December 2011.

The second book of her trilogy, The Silver Falcon, is scheduled for release in December 2012. No release date has been set for the trilogy’s final book.

Frankfurt Airport City

This past Thursday, we had to take our 11th grade son to the Frankfurt Airport for his flight to Johannisburg.

On the way from the Parkhaus to Terminal 2, we encountered these signs many times.

The Squaire at Frankfurt Airport City

At first glance, the i in Squaire looked like a misspelling. But then I noticed the term New Work City, also a play on words, I’d suppose.

The airport is dotted all over with these signs making it a real linguistic eyesore. But I am sure we all will get used to it.

Visit The Squaire website for more information.

The Wonders of Hormones

After a little row with our teenage son, just before he walked out of the house, he smiled at me. It was obvious he had forgiven himself already, when he turned to say good bye. But all I could muster was: ” I forgive your hormones.”, which left him laughing.

This immediately reminded me of the book The Wonder of Girls : Understanding the Hidden Nature of Our Daughters (Amazon.com), which I had read in anticipation of our daughter turning into a teenager.

This book helped me a lot in knowing what to anticipate, when to take your parental position serious or when to bite your tongue.

It might be wise for me to read Michael Gurian’s book The Wonder of Boys (Amazon.com)  before our son moves out next summer.
