Granted, I am only on page 88 of this book – from a total of 282 pages – but I am sure the rest will be just as good. It is written by Alan Booth, who decided after seven years of working in Tokyo, to walk the whole length of Japan from the most northern point of Hokkaido to Capa Sata in the South. Alan encounters a variety of people along his travels and gives a poignant, but also witty account of his experience. He gives an insight into an often misunderstood nation. He describes hilarious encounters and beautiful sceneries, but also shares a wry but yet respectful perspective of an outsider. This is a great book for anybody who is familiar with Japan and its people.
