CEF German Proficiency Test for Junior High Students
An increasing interest in having Asian students, while living in Germany, pass the German Language Proficiency test has been noticed. Holding a German language proficiency certificate is valued as a bonus point when returning to Asia and applying to one of the better junior high or high schools, e.g. in Korea.
If the school in Asia does not specify which type of certificate would enhance chances of admission, then taking the Zertifikat Deutsch für Jugendliche or ZD j (Certificate of the German language proficiency for adolescents) seems the appropriate level. The vocabulary, topics, and content of the reading- and listening comprehension are geared toward adolescent students.
For more information about the ZD j, click on Zertifikat Deutsch für Jugendliche. There are also two more proficiency test on lower levels for young students. See list below:
* An age of 10 years or over is recommended for the Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Fit in Deutsch 1.
Fit für Fit in Deutsch 1 und 2. Lehrbuch. Mit CD: Tipps und Übungen
* An age of 10 years or over is recommended for the Goethe-Zertifikat A2: Fit in Deutsch 2.
Fit für Fit in Deutsch 1 und 2. Lehrbuch. Mit CD: Tipps und Übungen
* An age of 12 years or over is recommended for the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 : ZD j
After the free ZD j practice, if your child should feel the ZD j (recommended age: 12+) is above his/her skill level, then the Fit in Deutsch level A1 or A2 (recommended age: 10+) might be more suitable for just getting started.
The student should take advantage of the free material provided by the Goethe institute. This helps evaluate what testing level is appropriate before signing up. Any study book is best worked through with a private teacher to help understand the guidelines, procedure, etc.
