What Can You Buy for Seven Cents?

Is there anything on the market for less than 10 cents? Nothing, I’d usually respond. Well, you might be able to buy a plastic shopping bag for 10 or 20 cents.

But yesterday, I bought ten notebooks (the paper kind, in German: Heft) at McPaper in Oberursel and the cashier rang them up for 70 cents.

I had to ask to make sure she had charged me for ten. “Yes”, was her reply. Notebooks are on sale for seven cents this week. My mind went a bit blank as I tried to remember when or if ever I had bought anything costing a single digit price.

Seven cents or euro 0,07.

… and Rossmann, another competitor, sells its notebooks for the same price. There is a price warfare going on.
